We’d like to update you on recent developments that affect the teaching of our BTEC Entry 3/Level 1 Travel and Tourism specifications in schools and FE colleges.

We currently have two sets of BTEC Entry 3/Level 1 Travel and Tourism specifications running alongside each other. Both sets of qualifications are currently open for registrations, although some are not currently available for pre-16s.

Pre-16 learners
We recommend our 2009 Travel and Tourism specifications for pre-16 learners. These qualifications offer a broad introduction to the sector, with clear progression opportunities to Level 2. These qualifications were included in the recent DfE performance tables list for KS4, meaning that they will contribute to the five A*-G performance measures.

The 2009 specifications are available for pre-16 learners, and are funded for eligible 16- to 18-year-olds and 19+ learners.

Post-16 learners
Both the 2009 and 2011 specifications are funded for post-16 learners. We recommend you teach the specification you feel best meets the needs of your learners.

The 2011 specifications are funded for eligible 16- to 18-year-olds and 19+ learners, but are not available for pre-16 learners.
  

Please note that these qualifications are currently undergoing the review process to extend them beyond August 2012 for use in 2012/13 and 2013/14.
