It's simple! To nominate a student, teacher, tutor, centre, apprentice or provider, simply fill in the online application form by Thursday 5th April 2012 and click submit! This should take no more than five minutes and it could be the most rewarding five minutes of your year! |

Who can be nominated?
- Student nominees must have received their BTEC grades between 31.5.2011 to 31.5.2012, and can have completed a BTEC First, a BTEC National, a BTEC Apprenticeship or a BTEC Specialist Qualification. Don't worry if you have students who will complete their courses after this date – you can nominate them next year! There is no upper age limit for entry.
- Teacher, Tutor or Trainer nominees must have been teaching BTEC Firsts, BTEC Nationals or BTEC Specialist Qualifications in the calendar year 31.5.2011 to 31.5.2012.
- Apprentice nominees must be currently doing, or must have completed, a BTEC Apprenticeship. Please note, the two age categories – the BTEC Apprentice of the Year category is open to 16-18 year olds who must have been between 16 and 18 years old on the day they formally registered for their Apprenticeship and the BTEC Adult Apprentice of the Year is open to apprentices aged 19+ years who must have been 19 years old or older on the day they formally registered for their Apprenticeship.
- Apprenticeship Provider nominees must currently employ BTEC Apprentices or be delivering BTEC Apprenticeships.

What do we mean by 'outstanding'?
We are looking for those students, teachers, tutors, schools, colleges, apprentices and providers who are shining examples of vocational excellence. All nominations will be assessed by an expert Judging Panel and the shortlisted nominees for each Award category will be asked to submit further information to support their nomination, before final winners are selected by the Judging Panel in early June.
For students: We will be looking for students with outstanding grades, excellent progression and future planning, students who demonstrate independent and proactive thinking and actions, and students who have overcome challenges, either personal or at school or college.
For teachers and tutors: We will be looking for teachers and tutors who show outstanding commitment to and enthusiasm for their subject, who can demonstrate innovative project and lesson planning and who produce motivated and high performing students.
For schools and colleges: We will be looking for centres with outstanding commitment to BTECs, that produce high performing students, forge excellent wider relationships with employers, colleges and universities and that boast highly motivated and dedicated BTEC teachers or tutors.
For apprentices: We will be looking for apprentices who have made a significant positive impact on their business, for example by introducing innovative ideas or ways of thinking, improving processes and productivity, being an effective team player and acting as an advocate for Apprenticeships in the local community.
For providers: We will be looking for training providers, FE colleges and employers that can demonstrate creativity and innovation in the delivery of their BTEC Apprenticeships. This could be through the use of technology, digital applications or any other resources that support delivery and improve learning.
