“On joining Pearson in summer 2004, I assumed responsibility for UK Education Schools and FE sales. A couple of years later, I also became responsible for Work Based Learning and Employers sales, and I integrated all these different areas of operation to construct one UK sales team. During my time with Pearson UK, I also managed the Edexcel International business for twelve months. Additionally, for the last three years I have been Chair of Awards UK Limited, a joint venture awarding body owned by Edexcel and SQA.
Before joining Pearson UK, I worked for a period as an independent business consultant advising local authorities how to construct funding bids and business plans to support the bid programme. Before that, I was based in Georgia, USA, from where I spent five years working internationally.”
“I joined Pearson in February 2004 as National Manager for Wales, with responsibility for Schools, FE and Work Based Learning. My main responsibility was to grow revenue in all channels and develop the team to be more commercial in their outlook in dealing with existing and new business.
Over the next couple of years, I assumed responsibility for both the Training Provider and the Employer teams within Work Based Learning. I have also been a board member of Awards UK Limited for the last three years.
Before joining Pearson UK, I worked for 25 years in the work-based learning field. For the last 10 of those years, I was a director in two Training and Enterprise Councils, with responsibility for contracting with training providers and employers.
I have also held posts as a non-executive director with three private training providers, as a college governor with two FE colleges, and as a regional Chair of the Young Enterprise programme.”
“I joined Pearson in January 2002 as Sales and Marketing Director for the Schools MIS business unit. After two years, I moved on to a more general business development role, joining a team that won a variety of large-scale, multi-year education service contracts.
More recently, I spent several years working for Pearson International. I worked directly with Ministries of Education, mostly in the Middle East, central Europe and south-east Asia, winning and delivering large contracts and drawing on the whole of the Pearson portfolio.
I joined the Work Based Learning division in January 2010. It’s a hugely challenging and exciting area, and it’s a privilege to be able to lead part of the division as we secure our vision of becoming the UK’s leading work-based learning provider in size, influence and technological innovation.
Before joining Pearson, I worked as Head of Development (schools, FE and HE) for Edexcel, before it became part of the Pearson group. My early career was spent as a practitioner in education in schools, FE and HEI; my last post was as a head teacher in an inner-city school.”
I transferred to Edexcel as Head of Marketing in March 2007, where I was responsible for setting up a new marketing operations function. This involved management of marketing communications, brand, events and the re-development of the Edexcel websites. In December 2009, I was appointed Director of Marketing for Work Based Learning, with additional responsibility for managing digital marketing and customer-facing websites across Pearson UK.
Before joining Pearson, I held positions as the Head of Communications at EDI plc, Marketing Manager at LCCI Examinations Board, and Campaign Manager at the Training and Enterprise Council. I started my career in public relations and, before moving into education marketing, worked in publishing.”
Before joining Pearson, I completed a finance graduate scheme for a large outsourcing firm, where I gained my ACMA qualification. I also have a year’s sales experience, working for an executive search firm, which gave me a strong commercial foundation. I hold a degree in Economics and a Masters in Banking and Finance.”
